The SLEEP Trilogy
The SLEEP Trilogy introduces April. Discovered as an infant next to her dead mother. With no known family she is placed into the system and eventually adopted. She is supremely intelligent and curious. Born from tragedy, it seems to follow her as she grows. SLEEP is a psychological and at times disturbing thriller - not for faint hearted.
Inspiration for the story stems from two sources - Stephen King’s masterpiece ‘The Shining’ and Neuro-Linguistic Programming. Of course, elements of good vs evil, nurture vs nature, and the outliers of human behavior are also stirred in. SLEEP AGAIN introduces Benjamin Grey into, always destined for his own series of less disturbing mysteries.
SLEEP 3 (working title) brings April into adulthood. An exceptional young woman whose wealth, power and influence is growing rapidly. Now with knowledge of whom her mother and father were, what direction will her own life take? Does she even have a choice, and if so, what choice will she make?
I often wonder, like I expect most writers do, how their work might look on screen. in SLEEP, I have written about something I find interesting and disturbing with some scenes having to wait until the morning to be written. In SLEEP, I knew I could not write about ‘programming’ without at least one scene that shows how that programming is done. Though the scene was clear in my head, it took several versions before I was happy with it written down. I hope the imagery of this scene and been effectively translated into print. I do believe they would make great movies, so if anyone from Blumhouse is reading this, please take a look.
